So, could YOU do money by helping brick and mortal business owners to improve their presence online?

Here are three points you should consider when you start planning doing so:

1. What is it that you do the best?

Gaining clarity of your skill that can add value to someone else’s business is essential.

Type down exactly what you can do. Mark those tasks that take you the least effort and time. If it’s setting and customizing a blog, become the specialist in your area as the business blog developer. If it’s setting autoresponders and writing email-follow-up sequences, then become the specialist in your area for that.

Too many time I see people to sell “Internet Marketing” services, which is way to general and doesn’t tell your potential customers at all what would they get by hiring you.

When you brand yourself according to what you do best, your specialization becomes your door to the market. Don’t be afraid to go narrow and clearly specialize in the beginning. Firstly, you’ll like serving others more by doing what you do best, and by providing excellent results, you can very easily sell more of your Internet marketing related services to your existing clients.

Internet is a GREAT media to do marketing at. The Internet offers powerful leverage for ANY business, online and offline.

By this I mean that the Internet is media – not a business. It’s a vehicle for you to market your product or service.

Business is about exchanging values and therefore you must have a product, service or knowledge that someone is willing to give you money in exchange for. For others to understand the value you can give to them, clear communication is fundamental.

What’s so great about your service, really?

When you come across with a business owner with a website but no means to add their website visitors to a database to follow-them up, you could promote your service for setting up an autoresponder. But what’s so great about that? The business owner most probably doesn’t see any value in having an autoresponder because he doesn’t have any!

So, answering the question “what’s so great about having an autoresponder” could be: “People visiting your website are interested in your services but most of them don’t come to see you right after visiting your website and might forget you. Offering the option to sign-up for e.g. receiving special offers from you by email will encourage more of them to become your customers, and you’ll make more profits.”

3. How do you deliver your promises?

When you sell your services to others, it’s different that that doing the stuff for your self. Most of us don’t treat ourselves as our own clients, and that’s why many times we let ourselves distracted while working.

However, when you have a customer, who is paying for the service you promised to deliver, you better deliver, on time. Many things take more time we thought. That’s why you need to know exactly how long it takes for you to do what you promised.

Have a timer to measure your working time (the true working time, not just browsing the Internet) and keep a working diary. Mark your calendar the days and times you are going to do the service and deliver.

Knowing the time needed to provide the service also helps you to price your service correctly. Don’t under price your time. On the other hand, don’t rip off your customer either. It should be a win-win deal for you and your customer. You should be compensated well for the skill and knowledge you have acquired. Your client should get something in change that truly helps them to make more out of their business.
